ODEE SHOE CARE • SHOE TRAVEL TIPS

Whether you're travelling by bus, car or plane in Pakistan, shoes can take up luggage space and transfer dirt onto your clothes. Packing them properly helps protect shape, keep pairs organized and make unpacking easier.

1. Decide which pairs you actually need

Start with the activities planned for the trip: a comfortable pair for long walks, appropriate footwear for an event and weather-suitable shoes if rain is likely. Wearing your bulkiest comfortable pair while travelling may save bag space, provided it suits the journey.

2. Check that shoes are clean and fully dry

Brush off loose exterior dirt and follow material-specific care guidance before packing. Don't zip damp shoes into an airtight bag: trapped moisture can contribute to odor and mildew. Allow the upper, lining and insoles to dry fully.

3. Preserve the shape of the toe box

For suitable sneakers, loosely insert clean socks or plain, unprinted paper to help prevent the toe box from collapsing under pressure. Avoid forcing large objects into shoes or crushing structured heels. Delicate dress shoes may need their own supports.

4. Separate shoes from clothing

Use a reusable shoe bag, breathable pouch or a dedicated luggage compartment to keep outsole dirt away from clothing. If travel conditions require a temporary sealed bag for wet shoes, unpack them and allow them to dry as soon as practical.

5. Place heavier shoes near the luggage base

In a suitcase, position substantial footwear close to the wheels or base so it doesn't squash lighter items. You can pack socks inside suitable shoes to use space efficiently, but don't overload the shoe or deform its shape.

6. Recheck your shoes at your destination

Unpack soon after arrival. If the shoes picked up moisture during travel, allow airflow before putting them into a wardrobe. Inspect any delicate finishes for pressure marks rather than using aggressive cleaning immediately.

ODEE buying tip: Choose footwear for the activity, fit and materials first. Always check the manufacturer's current instructions and care label.

Frequently asked questions

Should I wrap every pair in plastic?

Not necessarily. A reusable bag or fabric pouch can keep pairs separate. Avoid leaving damp shoes sealed for extended periods.

How do I keep white sneakers from getting dirty in a suitcase?

Separate them from dusty outsoles and dark, abrasive objects using a clean pouch, and make sure they're dry before packing.
